On Monday I had the ultrasound that I'd been waiting for, it would tell me if the hematoma was shrinking. It was the anatomy scan for baby as well so it took a loooong time, but I'm not complaining because it's so much fun to get to see that little peanut squirming around in there. The scan had great results: baby is growing right on track with where he/she should be (we do know the gender, but I'll save the big reveal for another post. I know, the suspense is killing you. So sorry. Insert maniacal laugh here), and the hematoma is pretty much completely gone- yay!!! Words cannot express how much relief I felt, seriously. Technically I still had to wait to get doctors approval to come off bed rest, but being the eager beaver that I am I couldn't help but to get up and take care of some stuff around the house and cuddle with my little dude.
Everything was fine, and then Wednesday came. I had more bleeding, but the kind that sort of scared me. I called the doctors office. When they called me back the nurse said I needed to go back for an ultrasound. She also said that the doctor had ordered that I remain on bed rest. Oh joy.
I went back to have another ultrasound yesterday and it showed that baby looked fine, the hematoma was completely gone, however there was a little bit of a bleed under the placenta. As of right now they're calling it a possible partial placental abruption. I go back for another scan next week. Until then, I'm on "strict bed rest".
So my life from the couch continues. It's rough at times. Last week I had a minor freak out at Derek when he came back from taking Toby out for a walk to find me walking around. When he told me to sit down I
But, in all seriousness, it could be a lot worse. Some women have to be on medication while on bed rest and sometimes the meds make them loopy and drowsy. No thanks. Sometimes women have to be on bed rest in a hospital, which just completely sounds like a prison sentence. I like my fluffy bed thank you very much.
I'll count my blessings. Every single one of them.
Bravo, my dear! You can do this. And you won't have to do it alone. Besides, just think of all the Phase 10 rounds, watching movies while being armchair "Siskel and Ebert" and eating things in bed that you never dreamed you would! But seriously, I'm praying for you, love.
