San Diego Trip

Last week we went on a trip with Derek's family to San Diego. This was the first long distance trip we had made with Toby since he was a newborn (with a newborn, a 5 hour trip quickly turns into a 9 hour trip when you have a hungry babe wailing in the back every 2 hours) so I was looking forward to getting out of the desert for a while.

We got to go to Legoland, Toby's first theme park.

The first ride we did was a little boat ride that had lots of cool models of different landmarks, all made out of Legos. I thought it was highly intriguing, but Toby seemed less enthused.

We went on a little airplane ride which Toby was much more pleased with...

...and then he had to ride it a billion times (okay I'm probably exaggerating just a tad) . Being on the trip with Derek's parents was awesome because they were more than happy to take Toby on the kiddie rides while Derek and I went off on a "big kid" ride; which was really just a Lego jeep roller coaster that we waited in line for about 45 minutes while the ride itself lasted a whole 1.395 minutes. But we're big kids at heart and it didn't go around in circles so we were happy clams.

Star Wars is very important in our house. Derek felt strongly about making sure that we visited the Star Wars Miniland.

Toby is really into "choo choo's" (aka trains) right now so he was uber thrilled when we went on a mini train ride.

We tried to get a picture of Pappa with the grandkiddos but as you can see the boys were none too pleased with being restrained for photo documentation of the day.

The next day we went to the beach and friends, it was awesome.

 Am I right?

Toby was a little apprehensive about the waves at first, but eventually he went from coiling his feet to running full force into the water.

Sorry, I could not get enough pics of the ocean.

I interrupted sandcastle time and asked him to say "cheese". He's getting used to having a camera shoved in his face a lot.

(I don't know who that random dude in the background is but I feel bad for him because that water cooooldIt was chilly but being the photo hog I am I wrapped Tobes in a towel and asked Derek to snap a pic.

Toby did really well on the road trip both ways, only a couple of minor meltdowns. Nothing that "Frozen" (or "no-man" as Toby calls it) couldn't fix. All and all it was a wonderful trip and we can't wait for the next one!
