So without much further ado, the results of my Spring Fashion Scavenger Hunt. It took several trips, each usually followed by pitty parties consisting of wine and chocolate, but I finally found some cute duds to help get me back in the game of actually enjoying shopping. It was a great learning experience too.
Small disclaimer: I couldn't find the tripod, and I'm terrible at taking selfies so I really do apologize profusely for the lack of creativity in these pics. I fervently hope that the more I do this, the kinda better I'll get.
Lesson learned: Don't knock it 'til you try it. Also, try not to take head- cropping pics.
I found this dress at Ross for $10 and the first thing I noticed was that it has pockets! I'm a total sucker for dresses with pockets. The fake pocket flaps on the top are a little annoying, but that's nothing that some needle and thread can't fix.
Lesson learned: Smile for reals, woman. None of this fake smiling crap.
One of the things I wanted to find was a pair of shorts in a color other than blue denim. These fit the bill smashingly and aren't too super short for a mom to wear, and yet they are not mom shorts. I solenmly swear that mom pants of any sort shall never darken my closet doorstep.
The shirt is one of my favorite finds. It's vintage soft and the design is whimsical and artsy, like me.
I'm venturing to guess that the What Not to Wear peeps would be all up in arms about a person over the age of five wearing a romper, but oh well. It's made of linen which is great for the horribly hot summers we have here in AZ. I couldn't argue with the price either; I found it at Goodwill for $2.50. The necklace is probably the piece I'm most proud of because I've never been good at even glancing at the accessories section.
Lesson learned: We really need to fix up our porch so I have a better background for my pictures. Clearly I've got my priorities straight.
I got some other stuff but I think I've consumed enough humiliation pie for today. Like I said it was good to get back in the swing of things, shopping doesn't seem quite as daunting.
Ooooh and guess what!
We got a kitty kitty. He's adorable and fuzzy and just generally makes your heart melt. I think we've settled on the name Watson, as in Sherlock Holmes' sidekick. So far he seems to like his new home. He's uber tiny so it's hard to keep track of him; last I checked he was napping under the couch. I should probably confirm that is still his location. Toby has warmed up to Watson really well. At first Toby didn't really seem to care, but this morning he actually petted him when I told him to be gentle (as much as a 1 year old can be) and smiled when Watson curled up next to him. Que the "awwwws". Welcome to the family Watson. Look out for falling objects.
P.S. I made name change to the blog. It's a little more accurate as to where we live, the burbs. I'm probably going to change the web adress soon to include the "suburban" so be on the lookout for that warning.
It's fun to show off new clothes! I'm glad you found pieces you like.
ReplyDeleteJeannie and Stefan (Phoenix friends) have a chocolate lab named Watson for that same reason!
You're such a cutie! The first outfit is my favorite. ^_^
ReplyDeleteI also like the romper. ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I'm partial to the high low look. Love your blog!
